One of the options directly addressing the tsunami disater is the Japan Society of New York

disaster relief.

On March 11 Japan was hit by the largest earthquake in the country's history. The 9.0 magnitude quake triggered a massive tsunami along the northeastern coast — sweeping away entire villages with walls of water more than 30 feet high.

As of March 15th, half a million people have been evacuated with many others left homeless in freezing weather with food, water and electricity in short supply. The magnitude of the human toll will be immense once the numbers of  the missing are confirmed. The effects of this natural disaster will be felt for generations.
Please consider even the smallest of donations to any one of the major relief organizations involved in helping the Japanese people survive and overcome this almost incomprehensible act of nature.  Every single dollar counts and together with others will mount to a relief effort that may make the difference for tens of thousands of people, many of them children.
