Please join us next time as we continue the fascinating discussion of Kinbaku and Art.
What was particularly exciting is that, while most music videos that involve any type of rope bondage often have only very fleeting scenes, this particular project seemed to require quite an amount of sophisticated Kinbaku! In fact, the artist and her talented director of photography, Ian Spohr, asked for a variety of looks which included an intricate hand and arm tie (Mae-te-nawa), several serious, full body ties (Ganji garame) and even a fashionista’s Kinbaku bikini costume for modesty’s sake!

Coming off successful appearances at several European film festivals, Ms. Blanc’s video “Goldfingers” was screened at the Independant Filmmakers Showcase Film Festival in downtown Los Angeles.

That bit of cinema history aside, the “Goldfingers” shoot was tremendous fun for myself and my expert assistants & colleagues Yzen and Remy and I was very impressed by the professionalism and creativity of Ms. Blanc and her crew. As we left the shoot I only hoped that a small portion of what we did would make it into the finished video!

Update! The music video “Goldfingers” by the enchanting Iliona Blanc and featuring a large helping of Kinbaku has now been released, is on the international film festival circuit and has recently had its US premiere in LA!

What was most interesting was that all of these ties were filmed on a large, lazy-susan type turntable, set up on a North Hollywood sound stage, which rotated slowly before the camera to show off the performers in various attractive poses bathed in sensuous light.

Imagine my astonishment that I’m now able to humbly report that almost everything we did rope wise is on the screen and not on the cutting room floor!

However, as delightful as this fact is, the real pleasure is the video itself. In my humble opinion it’s a terrific piece of work. The song is great, the photography is lovely and Ms. Blanc proves to be not only an exceptional songwriter and performer but also a wonderfully talented music video director.

The stunningly beautiful, sexy and talented French singer/songwriter/ actress/model and director, whose first album “Chipiemania” was released by powerhouse music distributor Polydor/Universal in France (available on Amazon) had already had numerous gigs at high profile venues in the US, including the House of Blues and The Viper Room when she began preparing several new projects and videos. One of these is the erotically themed “Goldfingers” which, happily enough, required some intricate rope bondage. Naturally, I was thrilled to get the call.

This certainly seems to be a time of exciting Kinbaku exposure in the mainstream media. Just a few weeks ago we reported on the production of a delightful, Kinbaku laden (please see the previous post) short film entitled “Wives of the Skies” and now comes word that the much anticipated new vid by recording artist, actress and director Iliona Blanc has been released and has arrived on our shores with a blockbuster film festival screening!

This creative idea especially excited me because I realized that this was not the first time this sort of apparatus had been used for sexy bondage in the movies. To the best of my knowledge this concept first saw the light of day in the early 1960’s at the world famous Crazy Horse nightclub in Paris and then was transferred intact to be a pivotal scene in the well-known French film “Trans-Europ-Express” (1966) directed by Alain Robbe-Grillet, one of the great names in French literature and cinema and starring the legendary Jean-Louis Trintignant.

“A sensual sweet lullaby that narrates the charming Iliona’s endearing fantasy. The hypnotic strokes of her guitar and the sensual touch of her lover transform her lucid dream of no strings attached black and white to golden ecstasy. Dulcet tones and masterful imagery create a sense of 50 shades of freedom in bondage, tying this guitar toting muse to her faceless lover in this captivating modern love story.”
As the copy from the IFS festival program so accurately and elegantly states –

I sincerely hope audiences enjoy the video as much as I did when it’s released internationally, and all I can say is that it was a genuine honor for my team and I to be involved.
